Architect Angie Lipski of MMW Architects had a high-end professional Italian range in her Montana kitchen, but the previous tiled hood fell far short in style. So, as she was redoing the entire kitchen (using Houzz ideabooks for inspiration), she designed a new hood and had it custom-fabricated. At $5,000, the zinc-and-brass attention-getter with banding and rivets was a splurge, but it creates a distinctive design moment.
